Capturing from dvx-100a to Canopus Raptor RT2

Is there anyone out there using a dvx100 or 100a with any canopus product? preferably the raptor rt2?

i have footage shot on my dvx-100a in letterbox mode...

when i capture it with the canopus utility it comes out as 856x480 and causes all sorts of grief in premiere no matter which preset i use.

there are no options in the canopus capture utility, it just choose for you which format to capture in.

according to the manual it should be 4:3 with black bars masking the picture.

it plays back wonderful directly from the camera to a tv or ntsc monitor.

well if i capture it in premiere i'm fine, it appears that with the canopus presets for premere if you use widescreen it does 856x480, yet the premiere preset for widescreen does 720x480

the footage in reality is 720x480 with black bars, its not any sort of true widescreen.

i'm just not sure why i even need the canpus card anymore, i have never been really impressed with it, i wished i had gotten the matrox card instead.
