capturing footage at different speeds

I'm not sure if i'm going to use premiere, avid or FCP to edit my footage. My problem is that I have tapes with footage shot at 30i and 24p. Should my project be set to a timeline for 24fps footage? more importantly, is there a good an efficent way to upload all of this? Does it not matter that the speeds are different? should I just use the avid standard uploader?

thanks guys

at this point i really don't know. I definitely don't want to close any doors though. What is my other option?

Make everything 24p which can be costly or very time consuming depending on how much "non-24" material you have.

well, what do I do with the non 24p material? I think you've clearly got a bit more understanding of all of this. Do I convert the 30i stuff? if so, how? what else might i do?

thanks

if the footage is mixed on a the tape(s) is there a way to tell what's 30 and what's 24 besides just looking at it? a more veritable way?
