Capturing 8 Audio Channels into 1 Audio Track

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if there was a way to capture all audio tracks on a tape (in this case there are 8) into 1 audio track, but still have the ability to choose the channel. I'm not talking about a mixdown. I know you can do this with stereo tracks when you capture them interleaved. Just wondering if I can capture all 8 channels interleaved into 1 track.

Thanks!
:)

Even when you capture stereo audio as interleaved, it's still two tracks. Whether you see it on your hard drive as a single file (mysong.wav) or as two separate files (mysong.wav.L and mysong.wav.R) is all in the container that is assigned to the data.

I do not believe that there is a way for FCP to capture 8 tracks of audio that will result in a single container.
