Capturing 25fps on something other than my DVX100be

Can somebody please help me on this one.

I don't really want to capture on my DVX100be because i dont want to wear the heads down.
Does it matter what I use to capture my footage from?
Will I lose quality?
Is there any other cheap consumer camera to use or any cheap mini DV decks?


Also, when I capture my 25fps 16:9 squeeze mode footage into Final Cut what project settings should I use to capture and what settings should I use for exporting to widescreen with the BEST quality output, keeping filesize at a decent size.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
