hey, i recently bought a dvx100b, i have sony vegas 7 and i didnt realize to the other day that i was capturing all footage (60i, 30p, 24p) with my capture prefrences set to 29.97 (ntsc).

What i wanted to know is what should i have my capture prefrences set to when capturing 30p,24p, 24pa, which should i have it on for those different settings? 29.97(ntsc) or 24.00 (film)?

I know 30p, 24p footage is meant for 60i (29.97) timeline, so would you capture under 29.97 or would you capture it under 24.00 film?

I captured a bunch of 30p and 24p footage with it set to 29.97(ntsc). Is any of that footage affected or not as good as quality from capturing it in 29.97(ntsc). I captured one clip 24p clip with it set to 29.97 and 24.00 and they seem to be the same.

thanks

you got it right. for 24p capture with 30fps preset and 24pA with 24fps preset. But it depends what your output will be as well. you could work with 24p in 24fps timeline but need to do the pulldown.

I'm no expert but this is what I gathered from reading previews post. Do a serch and everything is there.
Hope it helps

anyone got any more info? Baiscally all i want to know is what do i capture 30p and 24p in, 29.97 or 24.00 set in capture preferences?

Ive captured 60i,30p,24p with preferences set to 29.97, if ur not supposed to capture 24p with it set to 29.97, what the effects harm of capturing it this way be if your not supposed to capture this way.

All the footage will be edited on a 60i(29.97) timeline.

In Vegas, everything is captured as 29.97. Your timeline settings are what you need to adjust for the footage you're editing.

for version 7.....go into capture screen....right click next to screen hit prefrences then there is capture settings...and there is frame rates you can capture.

i cant find the answer with search. can anyone tell me what ways i should capture 30p, 24p in.

No, that's only for analog capture. It has no effect on digital capture.

Horse is right -- everything is captured at 29.970. Pulldown is removed on a 24p timeline to give you native 24p. 30p is still 29.970 and it's recognized as progressive.
