Capture to laptop

Now that Apple has upset the Apple cart....
I was having a discussion with a fellow shooter,
he was wondering as I was, if you can
capture the DVCPRO HD direct to a laptop.
Would FCP capture this???
If I was using a PC what application
could capture the DVCPRO HD, if this
is possible???

Yes FCP will capture this through Firewire, not too sure what you would use for PC though. Maybe avid?

Check the threads.. this has been discussed in massive lenghts. FCP is more than robust for this. I've captured like 5 hours of DVCPRO HD to a 1ghz powerbook without any problems.

I am seriously thinking of this option - but as will have my PB in a bag at my side - I am conserned about the Fan noise from the PBook.
Did you run into this much?
