Capture to cam or to mac

Ok I am just not sure of this so I need to ask.

1/ Is the compression ration for capturing to tape and capturing direct via firewire the same?

2/ On the dvx (in ntsc land) the color space is 4:1:1, is it the same as capturing direct via firewire?

Thanks for future answers. Sorry but research has yielded different answers depending on who is giving the info ..... thus confusing.

1) Yes. The compression is done before firewire output. It's already DV.

2) Yes. Same as above.

Great David was hoping you or Barry might respond. Thus with a DVX the only advantage to capturing in the field is you dont have to do it after the shot and of course you can preview straight in your timeline thus ensuring you have all the shots you need.
