Hey, I'm sure this has been asked a lot of times but I still can't find anything. I'm trying to record to my computer through FCP and just can't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated.
DV Monitor Pro allows you do record straight to your computer or connected hard drive. I've used it for years and recorded hundreds of hours without putting a minute on the DVX100A's heads. It's also nice to be able to use your computer as a monitor, especially when you're shooting in squeeze mode.
I've never recorded straight to the computer using FCP, though, I understand it can be done.
I know that you can do it with Premiere Pro. I guess it's quite similar with FCP..?
Just set the camera to rec-mode and connect it to the computer with the firewire-cord. Open FCP's caputre-window and caputre like you normaly capture from your DV-tape. With the camera set to rec-mode, the computer recive live-image from the camera.
Thanks for the help. I was kind of looking to use FC and avoid downloading/buying another product. Every time I try to capture like in rec-mode it says that I have to be in VTR mode.
