Capture settings for DVX100P

Hi everyone,

I'm about to start a project with AVID and my footage would be shoot on a DVX100A. I was wandering what kind of compression/codec to use to capture my footage with the best quality there is. It's a college project, but I want the best there is.

Heres a list of settings I got from my work station :

DV25
DV50
1:1 MXF to 10:1 MXF

I tested the DV25 to the 10:1 MFX and I didn't found that much difference between the two of them. I know that 10:1 MXF is heavier data in the end.
Is it normal that I can't see a slight difference between those two or I'm missing something?

Thanks! I'm shooting in less then one week and afterwards I'm doing the editing process. Should I use my camera has a deck? Because my workstation got it's own deck, but, it's a Sony HDV with a downconverter. But I might be dissapointed by the results if I'm using the Sony Deck. I'll stick to my DVX100!
 
Pardon me if you're already expert in use of your camera but what DV format will you be shooting? I only ask because if you shoot a wide screen format, be sure you understand the DVX100's choices such as Squeeze. I can't keep them straight without documentation in front of me, but one of the choices simply adds black to a 4:3 image making it look wide but actually results in losing data. The DVX100 forum should be of great help if you are not familiar with this. I used a DVX100 in event work years ago. Great camera for its day.

No need to pardon, it's always nice to have a reminder about the DVX100's working conditions. I shall use the Squeeze mode and I'm aware about the data losses. I don't use the Letterbox mode because it will be still be 4:3 and uprising in 16:9 in post is quite a pain. And I don't think that the lose of data in the image is that much critical. I always shot in Squeeze mode and I'm quite happy with it. I don't know how much pixel I'm losing on my CCD chips, but don't worry, I'm aware of that!
