Capture on PP1.5, I'm new to this..help

Hi all,

I have just got into this world of video capturing. I shot some footage on my DVX100a in 24p letterbox mode. When I capture in Premiere Pro 1.5 and watch it back in media player it stretches it like it was shot in squeeze mode. I have tried changing the aspect ratio in the beginning but this does nothing, 4;3 standard and 16:9 all looks the same. I would appreciate any help.

media player does not recognize aspect ratio for standard DV files correclty all the time.. but there have been issues with letterbox footage being recognized as 16:9 since waaaaaaay waaaaaay bacjk. anyway, just be sure that your DV file is output at the correct ratio and your fine. if you output to windows media you can designate the aspect ration then .. and for DVD you'll also designate the aspect ratio. i wouldnt worry about what WMP does with the raw DV.. it screws up alot of stuff.
