My apologies fellow dvxusers. I am new to digital cinematography as well as new to dvx100a. I just bought mine....
My question is (and i'm sure this must have been discussed a zillion times in this forum)... if i buy a cheap-ass, let's say ZR40, camcorder. Will that capture the same quality of data recorded by my dvx100a into the computer? I want to shoot usind different modes, 60i, 24-, 24pa etc. But want to transfer to the computer using ZR40, will that affect data and audio quality?
Please advise.

Thanks!

If you connect through firefire, there will be no difference

Yes, through firewire it will be identical.

If for some reason you were talking about analog video, then there's a distinct possibility that a cheapo camera will have lower-quality D-to-A hardware.

But for firewire transfers, they should all perform identically.
