GH2 Can't update your firmware unless you have a full battery.

Just noticed my new GH2 gave me a warning stating that it can't update the firmware unless the battery is full, which it wasn't. Is that something new they added in the 1.1 firmware?

Great idea, regardless.

Hearing all the time how you can "brick" your camera should you not use a fully charged battery when updating your firmware I thought it was a possibility. Good to know it was never an issue.

Also always use a battery and not dc power to update your firmware. On dc there can be fluctuations or someone blows a fuse in your house and your cams a gonner.

The problem happens if you use a NON-OEM battery. The camera can't tell if the battery is charged or not; you can brick your camera using a not legit Panasonic battery... l

I never considered the after market battery issue, now the warning makes total sense.
