sorry if this question has been posted before

please direct me to the thread if it has been discussed:

I was trying to do a music video with slow motion and fast motion, and having the band play either at 48 frames or 12 frames. I sped up and slowed down the track accordingly.

When I shoot film I do the same and it syncs perfectly.

on hvx I assumed it would work the same but I couldn't get it to sync up.

what am I doing wrong?

shouldn't this work the same as film. shooting 48 frames of film at 1/2 as long syncs...why does it not on hvx?

please help me

i bet its pulldown

24p played is really 23.976p or "not quite 24p"

I think theres a few threads on the board about this that havea solution to figure out how much to adjust by.

also this may explain some of it:

More specifically Barry hits on the nose. Do you calculations with his numbers

First, be aware that the stated frame rates are not exactly the frame rates. This becomes important when you're trying to do calculations like ilooklikemark mentions. For example, 12 fps is not 12.000 fps, it's actually 12.26. And 48fps is not 48.000, it's 48.17. So if you were going to play the song at double speed and shoot at 48fps (for playback at 24fps), be aware that it's not gonna work exactly like that. The concept is correct, but the math has to be adjusted to take into account what the true frame rate is.

Second, if you want to record the audio too, shoot in 720/24p mode, not in 720/24pN mode. You'll have to run the frame rate converter in post, but at least your audio will get recorded.
