i've been shooting in letterbox, and tried to switch to squeeze. everything works until you exit out of the menu, then it goes back to letterbox. i can change it to normal without any problems, but why isn't it letting me use squeeze mode?

Ty

Do you have a DVX100B? Besides the SQUEEZE/NORMAL setting, there is an aspect ratio setting for the LCD screen under a separate menu. Check it out.

yeah i got a 100b. i tried the aspect ratio and it's set to auto, didn't work.

here's the process (with the remote):
hit menu, select 'camera setup', go to 'aspect conversion', and change to 'squeeze.'

but it switches back to letterbox after i 'push menu to exit'. its the same on the LCD and viewfinder.

anybody else?

right, you have it set to auto for the display, which auto corrects the squeeze mode image so that you aren't looking at a distorted image on the lcd.

when you import it, you'll have to check off anamorphic.

everything sounds like it's working the way it's suposed to.

If it's in Squeeze there will be a SQU on your display, middle left.

As Shibuya says, in AUTO mode it will be unsqueezed and letterboxed on your screen so you can frame shots easier.

Ty, yeh, as everyone says, it's working exactly as it should. LETTERBOX and SQUEEZE will look the same on the LCD when you have the aspect set to AUTO.
