Can't mount EgripZ support brace

First of all, I can't engineer anything, so anyone replying to this thread, please excuse my ignorance, but:

I don't think the EgripZ fits to an original DVX 100?

Perhaps the EgripZ is designed to fit into the bottom of the battery unit, but I have seen the brace mounted directly to other cams before.

Has anyone on these forums attached the brace directly? The problem for me is the short screw on the EgripZ. It won't catch the camera's mounting thread.

So, should anyone find himself in this situation, stop being the idiot I was and use a coin to rotate the screw from below.
