Can't import GH2 video into Premiere Pro??

Total beginner here.

I've got a GH2 and am trying to import clips into Premiere Pro CS5 on my Mac. It keeps giving me the warning "The file has an unsupported compression type". I've tried shooting 60i and 24p both at 1080. The 60i files import into imovie just fine.

The directory I'm trying to import is SD card/Private/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/00002.MTS

I'm a little further along.

I tried importing with my laptop, and it works fine. When creating a new project I get to choose the Capture format as DV or HDV. If the project is setup as HDV, I've got no problem importing the GH2 files.

The bit that's tripping me up is that my Mac Pro desktop machine doesn't give the option for HDV. Under project settings there is a pulldown menu next to "capture format" that only has the one choice: DV

Both computers are intel macs running the latest OS and PR5.

"Capture" normally relates to capturing footage from a tape format to your hard drive. In the case of footage on a memory card you just copy that using normal methods onto your hard drive and import it straight into your project from there.
 
Thanks Ozpeter. Importing from card is working fine on my laptop. I did try importing to both a "DV" and an "HDV" project on the laptop and it worked fine either way, as you said.

The problem on the desktop where "HDV" does not show as a project setup option looks like something where I have to re-install Premiere. Hopefully the reinstall will fix the "unsupported compression" message as well. I'm glad at least that I have a second computer which works fine with the same GH2 files off the same SD card.

Thanks Tom.

Reinstalling Premiere fixed the both issues. The files now import, and I the HDV option under capture setup is appearing now (although I'll likely never need that little pulldown menu anyway).
