Hi

I have a problem:
I use the P2 cards whenI am shooting HD 1080i/25P I can import into FCP without problem but when
I want to do slow motion or accelerate and shoot 720P/25P or 720P/25PN
then I am unable to import into Final Cut

anybody knows why ?
thank you in advance

Alex

I suppose yoy have HVX version PAL, so you cannot import 720p with FCP yet. There is a software , P2Log, can import this material in 720p and convert to files that you can edit in FCP.

thank you for your response
I downloaded and installed the CODEC then used P2 to export as FCP xml file then I tried importing it in FCP, still the only choice is DVCPROHD 720p24 or 720p30 (I recorded 720p25) so none of them work (critical errors)
I also try just importing the quicktime file created by P2 in FCP but it plays all choppy.
am I missing something ?

The QT files created by P2 Log use the 720p50 passthrough codec from Imagine. When you export the XMl and the QT clips from P2 Log you should then import that XML into FCP and the clips will come in. In order to edit them you need to create a custom Sequence preset - duplicate the 720p60 preset and change the codec to the 720p50 one. If you find you have garbled video it may be due to the DVCPRO HD component which Imagine suggest you remove, however I have only found this to be an issue when effects are applied. From Imagine's site:

"For proper YUV operations, move the /Library/QuickTime/ DVCPROHDVideoOutputCodec.component to a different folder location."

that's what i did but nothing comes in. it says "non-criticals errors were found while processing an XML document" then the errors are "Required element <timebase> has a value that is out of range. Resulting <clip> definition may not behave correcctly"
