can't get rid of auto iris setting!

hello dvx aficionados. I changed some of my settings on my DVX 100B to match someone else's camera on a shoot a few weeks ago and now the auto iris won't go away. i turned the setting in the menu (from the Auto SW submenu) to Auto Iris "OFF" yet everytime i turn on the camera, the screen flashes "auto iris" and its annoying! don't know how to get rid of it. I am working in Scene File 5 but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. Checked the manual and as far I can tell there's no other way to change it.

another weird thing is happening on my handle zoom. when i zoom in all the way, and hit the zoom out button a touch, it starts zooming out automatically and i can't stop it. perhaps this is a setting i'm unaware of? its great but want to know how and when i set it off.

thanks for your help.

Pressing the IRIS does not shut it off ?

If you altered the settings, they may be the culprit if you selected that as part of them

Reset the Scene Files to default ?

Ok, check out page 72 in the owners manual. Changing AUTO IRIS to OFF under the AUTO SW menu "disables the auto iris control when in the auto mode". So if you are not running the camera in AUTO mode (which you shouldnt be anyway) just use the iris button next to the iris wheel to toggle between auto and manual iris modes as you would normally do.
As far as your zoom going automatic on you, were you by chance holding the camera by the top handle and activating the handle zoom rocker with your thumb?
I once had a major wtf moment not realizing my pinky knuckle was contacting the rear portion of the main zoom rocker (like the part that is marked "W"). I would nudge the handle zoom rocker to adjust frame and the damn thing would just keep getting wider, and wider, and wider. Really had me going for a few moments. Hold your camera by the handle and see if your knuckle can touch the main rocker. I'll wager a blank tape that it does.

i think i def had a "duh" moment with the iris. thank you thank you its off. i think since i had never consciously turned it on, i didn't know how the heck to turn it off.

as far as the handle zoom - it is possible that my knuckle was touching will keep an eye out for it next time it happens.

thanks so much!
