Can't Get Out of Manual Focus

Got original dvx100 and I can't get out of manual focus. I'm not in 24 or 30. I've been racking my brain. Also can't seem to enable white balance, when I click the button in the front, nothing happens at all (absolutely nothing).

Any ideas or advice on what could be happening?
