i am having issues getting my camera setup to do timelapses. i ve done everything that i can think of to try and figure out the settings. if anyone has any idea as to why i can not figure this out that would be amazing. thanks!

I have an idea. You are probably not reading P.47 of the the manual thoroughly!

The great unwritten gotcha. It must be in Videocam mode. I fought with that for three hours reading and re-reading the manual and all reference materials I could find until I found that in a small posting somewhere.
Cheers

Glad you managed to figure it out - I had similar problems when I first got the HVX but I didn't see your post until you'd answered it yourself.

It was a perfectly reasonable question, but what a pity you didn't get some more helpful replies from the Senior Members around here - I thought these forums were to help people who were having difficulty figuring stuff out. If everyone said "RTFM" there would be no point in having forums at all!

It's worth investing in Barry Green's book - he explains stuff so much better than the manual.

It's not the responsibility of the other forum members to walk everyone through this step-by-step -- that is what the manual is for.

The fact that the camera must be in VIDEO CAM mode is the very first thing that is mentioned on that page. If one actually reads the manual, it is a very easy process.

well...i thought already yesterday to write something similar, this souldntsound harsh, but i just can comment the THoff-quote like that-Word!

I found that I read and re-read the manual about 100 times as well as constantly looked up how to do things in the first week I had the camera.

Leave the manual in the john and read it while you 2.

Just cause it's in the manual doesn't mean everyone will understand it. Before you tell someone to RTFM, think about the actual manual. The one for the HVX sucks crap and is not very understandable. I'm a retied IT Engineer, I'm very comfortable with technobable. But the HVX manual is a pile of crap and Panny should be ashamed of it.

Isn't that why we all bought and love Barry's book and DVDs?

Attaboy BenB!
(Eloquently put, too)!

Just to put a fine point on it. I am a trainer and a 25 year veteran of the biz and I teach people to read manuals before asking questions......If you look at the manual, the print at the top of the page is small with no header and looks like a continuation of the previous page. If you are searching the manual for interval recording the header is below that and does not include the videocam warning in it. It is an easy miss. It also makes no sense that the interval mode is a part of the videocam mode and not the film mode, it appears to be not working for the first time user.
I figured this out months ago and was answering Wheelz.
I hope he worked it out.
Cheers.

I agree about the manual, it is poorly written, and the videocam/filmcam thing is the
easiest bit to miss in the whole book. I know I did. What other company ever gave someone else's book away with their camera because their own manual is so lousy?
