Can't get hack to work...I know, old stuff, but I just bought the camera

I purchased a Hacked GH1 on E-bay...serial begins with WE9.

It was shipped without a memory card....I followed advice and bought a class 10Patriot 32 gig card....plugged it in and walla...no AVCHD...locks the camera up and I have to remove the battery to allow the camera to work...

JPG vid works fine....but thats not why I purchased a "hacked" GH1.

I have read the volumes of posts on this and have tried everything to get this camera to work in AVCHD mode, but it won't...The Body will not allow a file to be updated...I cannot get the "Body Version Up" screen to appear....I formatted the chip in the camera and when I hit the play button all I get is NO VALID PICTURE.

In fact I tried panasonic version and copied bin files using Ptool and transfered them onto my chip and still....I get NO VALID PICTURE....The camera will not go into Body Version UP screen to install the bin file.

So I went out and bought a level 10 Sandisk....same thing, no luck....I went out and bought a level 10 Sony ...same thing, no luck....I bought a PNY level 10....no luck....

Besides the fact I can't buy a Panasonic level 10 in any store in Florida, and if I buy one on line and it doesn't work...I still own it....and it still won't work....

I did all the steps meticulously and cannot get this camera to function in AVCHD.
The seller thinks I'm nuts and that he sold me a perfectly hacked GH1...he said he used Panasonic Gold series chip with it and changed the settings with Ptool numerous times...

Short of sending this camera back to the seller and maybe never seeing it again, what are my options?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....I'm about ready to pitch the camera.

You can only patch/hack the camera with the battery, and the battery must be 100% fully charged. You cannot do it from the ac outlet. The reason for this is; if you have a power failure during the patch, you will "brick" the camera.
So, are you trying this with the camera plugged into the wall, or with the battery??

One other thing to do is; format the card in the camera-take a picture and a short video, to create a folder structure, remove the card and place the .bin file onto the card with your computer. put card back into the camera, turn it on, and push and hold play(might take 5 seconds), you should then see the dialogue appear to upgrade your firmware.

I managed to do it with the wall outlet only. Now whether that's advisable is another story.

Go to the site I posted a link to and read the FAQ's. Also, on this site, is a guide on how to use Ptools......read that...make sure you check all 3 boxes, and the increment level should be 10. save the hacked firmware, put the card in the camera, turn it on, and hit play.

You may be missing one or more critical steps.

There are already at least 3 thread recently started here of people that can't hack their camera's. Try and spend some timing reading through those above threads, and the ones recently posted by those that had issues.
Also, if your camera is brand new, don't be in such a rush to hack it. go out and shoot some video with it first and get used to how it works and what that video looks like. If it looks fine to you...stop...you're done and don't need to hack anything. Make sure when you hack the firmware, that you are fully aware of what you are doing, and what the expected end result is going to be.

I can't stress this enough; read the forum and the FAQ's...most all of the questions and situations that will arise have already been answered, many times. The only difference between hacking an un-hackable camera and a hackable version is to check one new box in Ptools, and to change the increment setting to 10....after you do that one time, and load the hacked firmware, your camera becomes hackable just like all before it. You don't need to check the new camera box anymore-but still need to change the version increment each time-10 seems to work. not sure what that does...but don't really care as long as it works each time.

Also, research on here or google on how to enter the service mode of the camera so you know when the hack works. if you checked, prevent version compare, then you should see 0.0.0.0, for something like that for your firmware. If not, you will see 1.3.
