copied from another forum i tried... any help greatly appreciated im completly lost trying to troubleshoot this...

Well im in a huge dilema... I have a project due soon, i edited in adobe premiere and copied each clip invididually and color correced every clip, now its time to bring it back over to premiere and somthing funky is happening to the video.

When i bring it over to premiere and overlay the original track i hide the "new" track each frame and check to make sure it lines up.. however, every 3 frames then on the 4th frame it repeats the 3rd frame... so it goes new pic, new pic, new pic, same pic, and repeat.

The original clip every frame is a different frame, so there are no repeats.
I used a panasonic HMC150 in 1080 24p mode.
The clip when i click properties in premiere reads :
Frame rate: 29.97 (24p)
My PR Timeline is
Editing mode: P2 1080i/1080p 60hz DVCPROHD
timebase 23.976 frames/second
1280 by 1080
pixel aspect: DVCpro HD 1.5
no fields progressive scan
display format 24 FPS timecode.

My AE Timeline is:
preset: DVCpro HD 1080 29.97
locl aspect ratio 32:27
pixel aspect: DVCPRO HD 1080 1.5
frame rate: 29.97 (ive done 23.976 and i still get repeat....)
the advanced tab has shuttle angle at 180, shutter phase -90
samples per frame 24 and adative sample 128.

I am very lost i cant find this answer any where, i hope thats plenty of info to try and help me.. any help is appreciated.

You're using the wrong timeline preset. Use one that matches your source ie. AVCHD 1080p24

There is no pulldown removal for the 24pN mode. It's native 24p (ie. 23.976 fps)

cant use AVCHD in CS3, onyl CS4. I used panasonic transcoder to make it a p2 file.

I really don't know the answer to your problem -- but I can tell you the MainConcept transcoder puts 1080/24p from the HMC150 into a 60i stream in DVCPROHD -- and in Premiere Pro you need to "Remove Pulldown." However -- it gets messy when dealing with After Effects by Dynamic Link -- and it imports 60i -- bla, bla, bla.

The above being said -- I've looked at the settings you provided three times and can't really make sense of it. It sounds like you put much time and effort in this project, and I feel bad that I can't solve your problem.

The bottom line is that if you transcoded your HMC150 files (to DVCPROHD using the MainConcept transcoder offered by Panasonic) -- and you're using CS3 -- then you need to get your project settings right in Premiere -- and the settings need to correctly correspond in After Effects (and that can be tricky if you're not experienced). I don't remember the level of "Dynamic Link" in CS3 -- but, in general, if you're having problems with linked files -- then you want to RENDER files and not link. For example, render out your color corrected files in After Effects, and then import those files into Premiere. Worst case scenario -- render out from Premiere -- import into After Efects -- color correct -- render out from After Efects -- then import the color corrected rendered files into Premiere. Meaning -- rely on "Dynamic Link" as little as possible.

I don't know if any of that is helpful -- but I hope it is, somehow. There are serious problems with "camera raw" HMC150 AVCHD files in After Effects -- but I assume none of that applies to you.

Premiere Pro CS4 is MASSIVELY more versatile and forgiving in terms of using footage from anything in almost any project setting. If you can upgrade -- do so -- and you'll be happy.

Good luck!
