Can't get 24p QT movie to DVD burn...

Shot 24p commercial on DVX100A...
...edited on my new Avid Express Pro v4.3 and timeline looked fine.
...saved the project as a quicktime movie on desktop.
...the QT movie appeared fine--but the dissolves between
shots seemed kinda odd...
...then, while trying to play and preview QT movie to prepare for DVD burn, the project goes black, then flashes on and off and finally stops. So I'm not even getting to the point where I can burn the DVD. I'm a novice at Avid Expres Pro and feel I'm missing some basic info. Is this and export problem, or encoding / settings thing? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Can't get 24p QT movie to DVD burn...

Are you exporting a QUickTime reference movie? Make sure you select "mastering" when doing so (it will render all effects in the timeline). The resulting QT movie file can be encoded as 24p progressive in Sorenson Squeeze. Make sure you go to the utlities setting once you selected NTSC LARGE and turn INTERLACE settings to NONE before compressing to MPEG2.

Re: Can't get 24p QT movie to DVD burn...

Michael,
Thanks for the help.
The "reference movie" suggestion was the answer.
Now...one more question: why does my commercial appear to have repeat frames immediately after a dissolve is finished.
It looks like a sudden stop or repeat frame. Not sure exactly??!
The effect appears to only last for a frame.
And finally, when I play the timeline or watch the QT movie, the audio and video relationship appears fine...but when I burn a DVD and play it on another system somewhere else, the music and shot dissolves no longer happen precisely where they did when I edited the timeline. This is not a case of audio sync not matching. Just music and pictures that appear to slip a bit. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance.
