Can't change my IOS when I get into the Q&A mode (Slow motion mode)

Hi guys,

I know this might sound stupid but when I am in normal mode, I can change the IOS perfectly fine. The moment I switch on the Q&A button to go into slow motion mode. It suddenly turn a bit dark and I can't crank up the IOS so I can make it brighter. Am I doing something wrong on my FS700. I am also using the kit lens. I also turn everything to manual mode.

If someone could help me with my setting I would be very grateful. I love my camera but I am also still a noob when it come to shooting with this camera.

Kind rgeards,
Daomay

I take it you mean iso? So when you flip the iso/gain switch on the side of the camera to l, m or h, the iso/gain does not react?

yeah correct the ISO DM_rider. When I click on the Gain/ISO it only change from A24dB to 30dB. I know how to change the shutter speed to go down all the way to 3 to 10000. When I am in S&Q mode the shutter speed are stuck at 215 only. I can only go up all the way to 10000 but I want to go lower on the shutter speed below 215. How do I do that. This is shooting at 200FPS.

Thanks you for taking the time to reply to my poss DM.

I'm not an owner yet, but when you increase the shutter speed you will be losing stops, hence the image getting darker. The more over-cranked the shutter is, the more light you need. Its possible that is the limit the camera will allow you to shoot.

Ok atfokus. I took your advise and I lower the Fstop to about F3.5. Where in slow motion mode now it is brighter. So is there a down side to having the Fstop very low. Meaning you will see a lot more noise perhaps.

you need to understand what shutter speed is/mean, you can't go beyond open shutter for the duration of the fps.
you need to understand how shutter speed affects exposure, along with iso and aperture.

Thanks Rahmy,

I am reading up about it right now. I think my kit lens is great and all but I need to invest in a better lens.

Sigh. No. F-stop is your aperture, aka how much light is let in, has nothing to do with noise. The higher your iso, the more noise you will have. The higher your aperture is, the more depth of field you will capture, aka more things will be in focus.

I'd do some research on optics as a whole before you dive any deeper.

thank you again Atifokus. Now I get yar. I was playing with the aperture and yes you were right it was to do with the depth of field. As for the ISO on the FS700. The higher I go, the more noise I was getting. Slow motion at night seem to pick up a fair bit noise. During the day it was is perfect with just natural light.
