A friend has been using my DVX for a few months and I think a setting was changed on it. I remember having to switch this a long time ago but i cant remember what the setting is --- I plug the DVX into my comp via Firewire but my comptuer does not see it nor does the DVX read "DV IN". I'm99% sure there is a simple setting I need to turn on. Help?

Worst case scenario (and only thing that comes to mind at the moment)...He may have blown your firewire port. It's not an uncommon occurrence, but is completely avoidable.
Plugging the camera in to a compy while the camera is on (particularly when plugging it into a 6 pin port) can cause blow outs. Best way to avoid this is to use a 4pin to 4pin cable from comp to camera, and don't have the camera on when plugging it in to the computer.
If that is indeed what it is, you might check with spec-comm for a quote on fixing it. They are an authorized repair center. I think it's 100 and something, but don't quote me.

Listen to what Jason said, If you have plugged in your camera to the computer while both are powered up then it will (or could) blow out the firewire board. I was told that by the rep when I bought my camera 4 years ago. I looked at the manual and I don't see any way to turn on or off the firewire.

I just found out today that my fire wire port is blown out,and guess what not inly on my dvx but on all 3 of my cameras.can someone tell me where do I send it to
