Can't capture at all

Okay...i'm about to shoot myself, this is so annoying. I connect my cam (xl2) to the computer, and the computer regognizes that there is a camera plugged in. When i go to the menu to capture...I can't click on "capture" at all. The capture window won't come up at all. And it happened to me before a while ago and I fixed it, so I went to an older project where I had captured from my xl2, and there I could get to the capture menu, but it says that there is no deck found. So! I tried to go to deck configuration and see what was up and it was set to XL2. Then I tried to auto configure and it set it to "Generic DV device" so i tried that, and I could capture, but the quality of the capture was sooo incredibly bad that there's no way I could use it. Does anyone know what my problem is?

Also make sure your timeline is set to green/green mode for full qualoity play back.

Aww man. I was really hoping that would work, but it did not. I got a message saying "LoadLibrary ("DVBuffers.ax") failed - the specific module could not be found." I think i'm going to uninstall and re-install my software and see if that works...or if your suggestion will work once i re-install. Thanks!

Make sure your project is 23.976 and not 24. I was getting the same problem (capture choice not available) because of this. Now I've moved on to a different problem.
