a steady cam that will be able to support the weightload I currently have and will in the future at the moment. so I was curious, how shoulder mounts compare to them? I did my first semi-pro shoot of my own last night with night for night lighting, and a lot of handheld shots of me following two characters talking. image was kinda shaky, but i did what I could!

so I was wondering what you guys could recommend as far as shoulder mounts? looking at redrock's right now. for 3-400 price tag it looks like it would do the job. just wanted some input before i drop some money on it.

thanks!

To buy a shoulder rig, unless a completely professional one, is not worth it's cost over a spider-brace. I used one for years, until someone stepped on it and broke it, with great success. $75 at the time.

Look into inventing or finding other ways then the norm.

You can do some great stuff with custom rigs. Christopher doyle does great work without steadi cam. See the footage of him with the pillow type things taped around his stomach and chest. He rests his elbows into the cushions and runs around that way.

i've worked with the spiderbraces before, but will they hold ~14lbs well? if so then i am completely sold haha

I have used Spiderbrace a lot and I find that it's two grip design puts a lot of stresson my outer pecs (I do have broad shoulders though). The shoulder bar also slips down and the construction is pretty flimsy. Just my 2c.
