what other minidv cams can record at 24p besides the dvx100 and the hvx200?

I cant afford 3000 for a dvx100 and Im looking for something cheaper that can record at 24p,.

any advice would be awsome.

Well if theres no 24p cam cheaper than the dvx, what would a comparable camera be? I was lookin at around 1500, like the DVC30.

The DVC30 is a great camera. It has frame mode that's supposed to mimic a progressive picture (but you lose resolution when you do that). Overall, I've heard nothing but good things from people who own them. It's built like a little tank, too.

No problem. Another option to look into is finding a used DVC80 with low head hours. It's essentially a DVX100 without the 24p option (so you still get the 1/3" chips as opposed to the 1/4" chips that are in the DVC30).

Just another thing to consider.

For $1500 you should be able to find a used DVX100...

Check the marketplace, a couple of people have sold them in that range.

Right -- there is no less-expensive 24p camera than the DVX, except for used DVXs. An original-model DVX should be around $1500-ish I would think.

I'd recommend buying a used Panasonic DVX-100 (original) on eBay. That is what I did. The deals are out there.

The DVX is worth waiting for. You won't be disappointed.

Yeah, that's what I'd do... but you have to know what you're doing with ebay. Buy from another person, not a company that's sold 3000 items before. See how many hours are on the heads, look at the feedback from the seller, make sure there are photos of the ACTUAL item, etc.

yeah thats true, but you never know how many hours are on the heads until they need to br repaired. Somebody could say they have < 50 hrs, when they actually have a lot more, and I would have no way of telling.

There's a menu listing that says how many hours are on the heads. They should be able to take a pic of that for you, if you decide to go with a used camera.

ok cool, I probably wont be getting it for another 3 or 4 months, but I will start looking for a used one now and if the deal is right, i'll just charge it to a card or something.

yeah I know, I use the DVX100B's at my school here in Vegas almost everyday and I have fallen completely in love with them, but at a new price of 3000 - 3500, they are only a dream.

and a used cam to buy scares me. Do you guys know of any place other than ebay/amazon where I look for used DVX's?
