If I install Edius broadcast and with it all of the Canopus HD codecs can I then edit in Premiere /Vegas since these codecs are now on the system? I know that it won't be accelerated but is it doable?

Edius is a fast clean app but I need to go into Premiere or Vegas to access the color curves to get the looks that I am looking for.

Thanks

Edius Broadcast is not a plug in, is a complete NLE software, so the answer is no. But you could capture/import with Edius and then transcode the footage to a format Premiere or Vegas uderstands, but why not work with Edius in the first place, it is way overpriced if you use it only as an transcoder :) If I finaly buy Edius (wich I most probably will) I will use this procedure for working with After Affects. But in wich codec is best to trasncode DVCPRO-HD and even if my thinking is right, it is better for both of us to get an answer from an experienced Edius user.

Unfortunately extremely unlikely to work. If you install Avid with its DVCPRO/HD codecs you still can't access those in other video apps :(
I'd love a correction, but if that worked then people would have just downloaded the Avid codec pack and we would all have been looking at the HVX video files in our favorite windows based NLEs already.

I am aware that Edius is a full blown non-linear editor as I have been using it since my DV-storm days (2001?). It works great but is limited. I have edius 3 but not the DVCPRO add-ons.

You see....when you install edius it installs a "canopus DV" codec on your system and I can use that in Premiere if I want. I was hoping maybe Edius broadcast would do the same.

Gues we'll see.

Thanks anyway.
