Canon ZR500 as a deck?

WOuld the Canon ZR500 operate as a good tape deck? Does it have firewire & and do ok as far as frame dropping. It seems somewhat affordable, I just want to make sure its not a waist of money.

It should be fine. I use a ZR100. Works great!

hahaha nice horse!!! :)

O'm, currently using the JVC mini-dv vcr as a deck...I prob should get a zr100 or something for the rest of my crew to capture with...
 
Anyone know if the ZR 500 shows timecode? Under specs at B & H it doesn't specify. Most other cameras say, "Yes." On the ZR 500 it says, "NTSC."
