Canon XL2 versus ProHD

Greetings everyone,

I am looking for a little advice. I own an XL2, but after purchasing a Plasma HD television for my home, I am convinced that HD is the way to go...I mean I find myself watching cooking shows because they look so dog-gone good. I have shot, produced, directed low budge features in the past, and some hi-budget stuff, and I am considering doing another one next year.

To cut to the chase, I am looking for some street advice. What does the ProHD look like on an HD Monitor, how does it compare to the big dogs, Cine-Alta, etc. Is there a big enough difference to justify dumping an XL2 and begging my wife for more money to buy the JVC.

Sorry if my questions are lame, but I come from film. I'm playing catch-up with the video world.

Thanks,

Tom Chaney

I think the distance between XL2 and the JVC are closer then the JVC and the cinealta is.

test and buy photozoom pro and make a upconversion to HD with your XL2 footage.

Before we have a standard delivering method for HDTV there is no rush for some of us to upgrade to HD.

Thanks MovieSwede,

But have you used both cameras and what do you think of the difference?

I'm looking for someone to tell me if there is a major difference in them (especially concerning the HD end) and whether I should make the switch.

I would be glad to rent the JVC for a day, but I can't seem to find one in the Detroit, Michigan area yet.

Thanks to any and all advice.

If you want HD than go HD. Photozoom Pro is nice but miles away from HD. Btw. do you have time to scale to size all of your frames?
