Canon XL1s question

I am working with this camera tomorrow and am trying to find out if there is an audio meter on it that i am easily able to calibrate my line level tone to. If there are no numbered markings, would anyone be able to tell me what dbFS the lines/marking refer to?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

My XL2 only takes mic level inputs. On the side of my camera there are numbers on the audio display. There are none on the readout that shows in the eyepiece.

The XL1S has an audio meter, which you can sort of see in this shot:

It's in the red section just above the big black dial on the side. As I recall (I only use the camera a couple of times a year), it's a fairly standard meter with a "zero" that's about two-thirds or three-fourths of the way from the left to the right, with everything left of zero being negative and right being positive.

With the MA-200 mic adapter (also seen in that picture, it's the black part at the lower right that the XLR cable is going into), the XL1S can take a line-level signal; I think there's a menu setting to change that but I can't remember for sure. Without that adapter, I'm not sure if it can take line-level for camera recording through the RCA inputs, but I'd imagine it should, since that's how the MA-200 plugs in.

Thanks for your input folks.
I was able to go line in through the Phono. I was pleasantly surprised by this.
The meters on the XL1s do have numbered markings.
