Canon XC10 4K video and stills camcorder

Assuming you just handled it and didn't shoot it, that reinforces one of the things I've found so surprising about this camera - sub par build and design.

I haven't held it but even given it's weaknesses (No EVF, poor lens speed, meh codec) I was interested enough as a complete system to want to try it.
Given what I keep hearing about it's underwhelming build, kludgy VF attachment, lack of buttons etc. it looks like a pretty stupid offering from a company that I thought knew better.

Honestly, as that third camera, the RX10 II really does dwarf this thing in very conceivable way at this point - and it costs 1/2.

It's priced too low to hurt the Cinema line. Canon was probably looking at the next generation of their 4K DSLR's in 5D IV and 1D X2 (and more toward 5D MK IV really) when designing this model. I suspect the price for XC10 to drop once 5D MK IV is out. Meanwhile, they have nothing below 1D C anyway.

The XC10 has a fixed 8.9 to 89 mm F2.8/F5.6 lens so a rumor of a faster lens does not change that. The 4K UHD Sony RX10 II has a constant F2.8 zoom , EVF and super slo-motion full HD video up to 960 fps for about half the price.

This is why I stated Sony's general innovation over the rest. Multi-Interface port and you can control any Sony camera with proprietary zoom rockers by Sony. Where's the ''LANC'' practicality from Canon or Panasonic cams? The Sony Multi-Interface port is beyond underrated, however, I like to keep it that way.
