Canon user thread - post your pictures here

Switching threads, sold the Nikon and now occasionally shoot with the 7D when I remember that it shoots photos. Here's a few pics from my visit home. Shot with a Tamron 28-75 2.8

A few select portraits from a series that I took working with a local film festival put on for high schools in Orange County. Every nominee (about 60 people) got a portrait, so it got pretty hectic. I had maybe 10 minutes to set up and shoot for each person so I was constantly running around adjusting lights.

The theme was (obviously) old hollywood.

*note: every time the flash on that old camera was fired - $5.

The lighting/posing in the last two are spot on for that era, in my opinion.

Did you do anything special to work around the glasses?

Those are fantastic photos Drew - really well done!

Here are some more of the bodybuilder and a few snapshots I took with the 7D while filming Fire Diviner's live performance here in Toronto (up and coming indie metal band!):

Hunter, your photos are too dark IMO. I would suggested setting up some low power flash (or contants light if the flash would distract the performers). If neither of these is an option, my recommendation would be to either get a faster lens or going full frame so that you can get an extra stop of light with equivelent noise by raising the ISO...otherwise I would say the sitiation is just too dark to shoot in. I would rather see a grainy photo than a dark photo though.

Thanks egprod and shaun - the situation was just too dark to shoot in I think. It was originally a video shoot and I just snapped photos in between. Since I was shooting in such low light, I think I would have needed a 1.2 to make it bright enough. It's definitely not something I typically photograph or shoot video for, but I think a couple constant lights would have made a difference.

Since it was setup to shoot video, I'm not sure if flashes would work - hm, maybe. Any low power ones you guys recommend, should I find myself in a similar position again?

I AGREE

I was going to go with the original music video, but I couldn't find it so we'll have to settle for this.

This is the downside of hunting down and destroying people who violate copyright laws by posting music videos on Youtube.

We have to sit through this.

@ryanweiss89 - Happy to see a Canon film user posting. I agree with Jordan. You have a fantastic eye.

On your portraits, are you using off camera strobes with gels and such or is all that great lighting just ambient? It looks wonderful.
