Cool PT tried it out. I am doing head shots for my girl and I needed to know this so I can insert her name and or just add a border so it looks better!
Yes, RLM thanks for the input:dankk2:. I will be sure to try that method also. And just to let both of you know AmAzInG PhOtOs from both of you. Keep it up!
I was at my brothers friends 40th bday party this past Saturday and took some snaps of the people that were there.
These shots are of some of the kids...
And
I have more from the same party if you'd like. But, I'd have to sift through them. And right now, I'm off to the drive-in with my girlfriend. Double feature of Ratatouille and Evan Almighty. Good times.
the first one is sun. but he was really well shaded. I just corrected it some...brought up the mids and used curves and levels. At first, it was a bit underexposed.
actually the light is all sun. the girl was standing underneath a deck originally so I had her come out and stand in the evening sun.
And yes, I do sometimes abandon the rule of thirds. I cant help it. i am torn. I LOVE close ups. but i also like to encounter the whole or most of the whole head in the picture. So, i am often in a quandary when it comes time to snap the photo. I like to just take a photo that works for me regardless of that pesky but albeit effective rule. I am more interested in what i am looking at and how they are looking at me/the lens than the rule.
having said that...i respect that rule tons. i just think there are plenty of times when it has no merit. like in this famous shot...
RLM,
I agree with you 100%. The rules are made to be broken and to be followed sometimes. Just like the 180 degree rule!
I to like to have most of the head if not all in it, as sometimes I feel a bit awkward not having. When I am watching films and or videos, if the person is not established in like a medium long or medium shot I just feel that I am missing out on something.
