Canon user thread - post your pictures here

Has anyone used the Sigma flashes for their Rebel XT (XTi)? I'd like to get a swivel/bounce flash, and don't really want to fork over $380 for the Canon 580ex. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

And I'm with you about the filters... if it's something I can do in photoshop, I'd rather take an unfiltered photo anyway. If you put the filter on your camera, you can't reverse it later if you decide you'd like to have it without the filter.

To take it a step futher, you can lower the opacity of your eraser (around 15%) and take a little of the blurred layer back away from the eyes... that is, if you want the eyes brighter/sharper. Just work from the middle out and kind of feather it so it's not obvious the eyes were cut out.

I just bought the 430EX ($230)... I haven't done much with it yet, but so far I like it a lot. I went ahead and ordered a lightsphere with it (heard a lot of good things about it).

Most of my photos are fairly close to my subject... so I don't think I needed the extra power of the 580. And I didn't have the money to buy 2 flashes... so I couldn't see a reason I needed the extra ability of the 580 to fire a slave flash. If I ever need that, then I save up for the 580 and let it control my 430.

Your needs could be different... if I had a few weddings lined up, I probably would have bought the 580 just to be sure I had enough light. In that case, maybe someone else can give an opinion on a cheaper alternative for that.

I really like the idea. It draws your attention to the eyes right away. I did a total erase of the blur; haven't tried a gradual erase yet. I'm pretty pleased with the results. I have a willing model :)

To answer your question, I bought a lens adapter for my Canon. Basically, the thing with it is that the EOS system has a short flange focal distance, and the Nikon a rather long one. So, all you would have to do is make an adapter that couples the Nikon lens and Canon body together with the correct flange focal distance.

Hey Guys,

Can anyone give me some help setting up the the 400d/ digital rebel cameras colour and contrast etc?
I have just come off a 350d and it eats this thing in colour and brightness/ contrast.
All my shots are coming out dark and the colours are very dull with detail in shadow areas being nearly non existent :(

So yeah if we could all pool together and list our favorite "picture style" settings it might help us all set our cameras up better and also get the best picture possible out of them.
What does everyone think?

first if you have alot of memory, i wouldnt shoot anything less than RAW. You can use you Digital PP program that came with the camera to adjust your White Balance settings or Change them. Then the rest is done in Post(Photoshop). as far as Picture style?

Create an Action/Macro in PS and save it for later that way you maintain the same picture quality across all your shots.

Film? i dont know why everyone is after the film look. film this and that film that here and there. just develop your own style. Its pictures not video.

Upload them using the dvxuser "Member Upload Center". You have 10MB of space to use just for posting pictures/videos on dvxuser.

Did u took it at 4.45 am? From the pic properties you can see that the iso was set to 100, not 400...

anyway nice pic ;)
