Ok, since I have to "grow" as well, I did a second version of your picture.

I just tried to make it a little different.

Nice. I like that. Yes, I will admit, I do have an attachment to really deep Beatrix Potter type colors...but I am beginning to see the light. Or the lack of light I should say....

Right now I am really trying to experiment when is a good time to desaturate or not to desaturate...Some photos just look better one way and some look better the other. Its a balance I am trying to discover...

I really like what you did with that picture. Perhaps I'll bring it back in the lab and see what else we can come up with.

PT, what did you do to achieve that look?

Well, first I desaturated all colors about 50%. Then I desaturated the blues and the greens from the background completely. After that I gave back some of saturation for the reds and the browns.

That´s about it.^^

Additionally some more contrast with the gradiation curve and a little sharpening.

Nice. I'm digging the green eyes. they both look great. Im even leaning towards the less saturated 2nd pic. this is great to see different variations of the same pic to get some different looks/ideas.

Man, I need to either calibrate my laptop monitor or strictly color correct on my desktop...because that first dog pic I submitted is even too saturated for me...its like an easter basket blew up on the dog.

Thanks man. Its funny...its just a point and shoot Canon Powershot SD500. I didn't want to bring my big camera bag and my friend brought her cam so I kept it in my pocket during this boat trip. I have the same camera just a much older model with only 2 megapixels. So, I didn't bring it.

I was surprised at how clear they came out considering we were on a moving boat.

thanks. its ironic...i usually love highly colorful pics. but my favorite is the B&W of the boats and the very first grayish bridge pic with the green frame.
