Canon T2I preordered from Amazon, anyone else?

hey all,

I just pre-ordered my Canon T2I from Amazon, has anyone else preordered from Amazon or anywhere else? I have no experience with preordering from amazon and am wondering what I am in for. Actually the only preorder experience I have is with my GH1 from the Panasonic Direct site, and you all know what kind of a nightmare THAT was. so I'm just wondering who all else has preordered a T2I and what all I can expect from preordering with Amazon? and of course, as soon as it gets here, time to sell my mint condition GH1! let me know if you're interested :)
 
Have you tried your local camera store? Since it's a consumer camera, you can probably get put on the list and then prepay for it, or pay when you come in to pick it up. I did that with my local camera shop and I was third in line. I think even the 7D wasn't that hard to get when it came out or am I wrong about that? Anyway, I don't see another GH1 fiasco happening here.

EDIT: I was literally on the verge of getting a GH1 when this camera was announced. I even sent out for the ceicio7 FD adapter from Poland. Would there be any takers for an unopened, unused highly regarded lens adapter without the long shipping time? I'll put it in the market place for what I paid for it with shipping!

I had put the T2i into my Adorama shopping cart and got as far as google checkout but I decided I wasn't in a rush and I'll wait for some reviews both formally and from these forums. I don't think the T2i will be short supply. Canon makes these things by the truck load.

Then I decided canon T whatever i is just not a 'video' camera. I went with the GH1 for that reason...
 
So what's the release date? I've heard from two sources (I think from the UK) that it will be February 24 but other than that, it's a vague "early March". Just wondering what others have heard.....
 
I'll just wait till the local camera store get them. I can then pop in a SD card an do alot of test shots in the store. They'll even will let me take it in their back room which is dark to take some test footage. I'm curious about the Olympus E-PL1 also.
I'll also wait for a couple of hands on reviews.

before order T2i, could somebody confirm that is it has the same VIDEO quality as 7D? ..I ask because the official movie (where can bee seen a nice pool , and a girl with dragon) rely looks so bad:(

I know T2i has the same sensore, but this video a big shi*.
any other video???

I'm not sure it will be quite as good as the 7D (single Digic IV might influence the quality).... but it will be better than the pool video.

I have seen footage from the T1i that looked better than that.

According to this site, it is less noisy than 7D but not as good in dynamic range, I think I will get one to compliment my 7D, it is too cheap and I think it is one hell of a bang for the buck.

I take it back, looking at the chart, probably the 7D got highlight tone priority set to on or somthing like that, it is noisier at low ISO but better at high ISO...
 
I was going to preorder through my local camera store. But I am in CA and think I can avoid sales tax by ordering through Amazon or BHPhoto. Am I correct?

Wow! That website kinda depresses me. Is this what photography/cinematography has really been reduced to? A bunch of charts and graphs?

As far as I'm concerned, if Lucas and Tarentino are impressed with 5D and 7D footage on a 40 foot screen, I'll be perfectly fine with any DSLR that comes remotely close in any way.
