Canon response on cinema5D

I don't think adding manual control and 24p to a DSLR cam would hurt the sales of their video camera line. I have been using both my A1 and MarkII together for certain film shoots and I can say first hand that you still need the small chip camcorders for many things.
 
They may be protecting their video side now, but I don't think that was the original intention. They just cocked it up by not thinking enough about what the video side needed.
 
With today's economic's why not sell whatever is in demand and forget about protecting other divisions...With the numbers of 5d they are selling the profit margin must be pretty good.
