Canon R6 w/ Oversampled 5K Video 4K @ 60p FullHD @ 120p

I didn't say I thought it was a good camera. But I still see it requested on jobs postings specifically or included in a mix of accepted Sony cameras. That's the power of market perceptions

A7iII is a cheaper crossover. Not really a fair comparison for sales units. But yes it's a better video camera

It was an excellent camera for 2015, just really wanted to point out it is not Sony's top video mirrorless and the reason why they haven't released an a7SIII because we wouldn't have seen another camera after the a7III if that was the case.

And if anything like that exists, it would be the a7RIV right now.

I see it asked for too...perceptions and stigmas may last forever, fortunately and unfortunately.

Some 1DX Mark III footage...maybe you've seen it, maybe you haven't.

[Side note: How this video gets only 3500 views in 6 months is beyond me. There is a relatively popular YouTuber who uploaded a video with 'R5' in his title - although it was about another camera - less than 24 hours ago and it already has 23K views on it. He has about 10x more subscribers but still.]

If a $2000-ish R6 would look similar, I'll take it!

Yeah I saw that one. Not crazy about the grade, but maybe it's better than a lot of the oversaturated stuff I see. Is it possible that I'll end up liking the Sony palette more? (Don't get me wrong, if you want to give me a 1DXmk3 or an R5 I will happily shoot with them :))

Even though everyone has their own idea and vision of what a cinematic look is, I personally think it's much easier to get one with Sony.

Canons are safe cameras...really lovely but just so darn plain. Which I like too (having owned like 10 different ones), but they make you work so hard to get anything film-like out of them versus a RED that takes like 5 clicks in post (at least in the older DSMC2 cameras).

On the other hand, I also think the S1/H produces some of the best images I've seen in a while, but half of the footage I see is out-of-focus...and we know why.

It's SO sad they aren't allowed to have good AF...at least not now/yet (IMO).

I think the S1 looks very nice. I don't think it has better color science than Canon or Sony-cinetone, though. And I don't know if it handles mixed lighting super well. But I think it looks better than the GH5 and I already liked the GH5.

I have half a mind to keep the S1 or at least wait to sell until I see footage from the newcomers. But I have to remind myself that AF + no-crop 4k60p + more famous camera (either R5 or A7SIII) will be worth it.

But I do like the S1. For what it can do it's a bargain (and I love a bargain)

As far as mixed lighting, totally - but I don't know if anyone outside of the Germans handle it well to be quite frank.

ARRI cameras put so much energy into great looking skin that everything around them is only just 1-2-3 colors. That's all that's left in the tank, LOL.

And most of the time it's either orange and teal, or green and something else.

As far as S1/H color science, I think V-Log is very flat, which is really good. Lots of flexibility there. I don't think C-Log2/3 is as flat. S-Log3 is pretty flat.

But even with just the baked-in looks... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU8Mu6vUoE4

You know we're just chatting here, but I think it's time for you to admit that you are in the minority as far as what people think looks good with saturation and colors, LOL.
