canon plug in with fcp 7? what does it do for me.

so i downloaded the canon fcp 7 thingy, when i mount my compact flash card the canon softwareopens up, i just end up closing that and opening my fcp 7 and go to fcp 7 log and transfer, it takes forever to offload a card. what does this plug in suppoused to do for us. am i doing it or using it wrong? thanks in advance

Its gives you the ability to save a whole card as a .dmg to log and transfer later, among other things but as far as your transfer speeds go. You need a faster card and a faster FireWire card reader like sandisk and lexar have.

is it just as fast to convert your files to Prores 422 straight from the card like im doing now...or is the EOS Final Cut Plug in movie converter faster?
