Canon nFD lens repair

I've been playing with 1960's FL (breech-lock) glass on my NX1, and it's gorgeous. They're supposedly easy to get into and clean, but I have a 100mm 3.5 that I got down to the lens cell and can't find my way in.

Still, I'm ordering up NX to FL/FD converters while they last, I'll make a full set of primes for cheap $$ - only the 85 is priced in the Nikkor range, and the 19 is in the Zeiss level. I found a pristine 19mm R for about $250, felt like stealing. A legendary lens for a wide with almost zero distortion. But far as I can tell, the FL glass is more robust than the FD - I still shoot B&W film with those things!

The construction of the first FD and older FL is more and thicker metal, so the construction is much more robust. The FD SSC coated lenses and the same as the nFD coated lenses (optically), they just dropped the SSC letters (from what I've read). The only exceptions being the L series which may or may not be the same coatings, but are certainly constructed with different elements in them.

This repair may stall a little, scored a set of nFD lenses in the for sale section that can replace both my failed 24f2.8 and failed 35f2 lenses. I was bored they day I started cutting new rollers and stalled completely today in trimming that one down to the correct length. I may try and see if someone else wants to have these made, a real machine shop could turn these out 50 to 100 per day. Dealing with the much shorter focus ring roller is going to be challenging for me, it's like .1 inch thick and I'm not sure how to grab it to machine to length.
