Canon Lenses w/Metabones or Zeiss ZF.2?

Hey guys, what lenses would you recommend for the FS100, the Canon L-Series with the Metabones adapter, or Zeiss ZF.2 Primes with the Novoflex adapter. Thanks!

Its hard to say right now. What is your budget? What kind of work are going to do? If the budget isnt a problem, I think you should go with ZFs but it's my opinion. I have mtf adapter and set of 6 ZFs and I don't really need anything else, it's more than enough. Or you can get 24-70 L I or L II with metabone adapter and also get novoflex or mtf adapter and just rent zf lenses. 24-70 I think it's great all in one lens, and if you would need something for a bigger job you can always rent ZFs. You can also get 24-70 L I or L II with metabone and get PL adapter, and just rent PL lenses if you would need it for again some bigger work.

Let me preface this with I don't own a Metabones adapter. Have used plenty
of L Glass on the FS100 but with a Canon DSLR body laying around to get around
electronic limitations.

Right now I am waiting on my ZF lenses to arrive. I just sold my C/Y set and
pretty much immediately missed them. I went with a slightly faster set and a
better range (35,50,85--had a 28 in my previous set was a bit of overkill).

I also use Nikon zooms (17-55 80-200) for my other kit which I love however
naturally focus throw on the 17-55 is not spaced out as much as desired. Works
great though good range.

Back on the subject what do you do with your FS100? I tend to cover events,
zooms are just part of the job. I need to re-frame sometimes without moving drastically.
Changing lenses in run and gun environments can mean lost shots at times.

My Nikon zoom set takes care of this and I'm quite happy with it. Sharp glass to say the least
very happy and I have used the Canon alternatives. Nice to have full control in just an adapter
that is 'dumb'.

I do hear there are issues with the Metabones adapter, I also hear they are fixing them
and providing great support. Personally I need to count on my equipment, like I said events
are run and gun and require being operational at all times. A 'dumb' adapter makes this
for the most part bullet proof.

If you have Canon glass especially L glass perhaps check out Metabones, if you have nothing
and are starting fresh determine your shooting type. Go from there really. And be sure to
standardize moving forward. Nikon makes this quite easy which is why most choose them.

I also do narrative work so the ZF's are going to fill the other gap nicely I assume. I had the
older C/Y's and they were great. I hope to get these cine-modded shortly.

So -- determine your shooting type. Do you already have Canon Glass? Standardize and
leave yourself opportunity later when changing bodies.

Thanks for your replies. No, I have not invested in Canon glass so Zeiss ZF.2's are probably the way to go although I do plan on getting a Canon DSLR in the future for stills. If I want to do any filmmaking, I'll probably buy an adapter for the Zeiss glass.
