F5: Canon lenses on F5

Looking into buying an F5 and selling my FS700. I been using canon lenses with my fs700 and would like to use them on the F5. What's the best option out there to do this? Any word if NAB will have anything great for this?

Is it able to power Image Stabilization?

What about communicating with the camera (f/stop display in viewfinder, etc.)?

IS is supported on lenses so equipped.
Data display and recording in process. As the Sony F/W is changing still it may take a while...

If you are at NAB we have a system that show cases the potential of this tech.
Wireless, intergrated with a wireless HD monitor, hand held, studio, guerrilla run and gun configurations. For every production style.
Steadicam, certainly :)
come check it out at the Sony booth

Wish I was there, definitely waiting to hear what comes out of NAB for this. And looking forward to hearing more about your product, especially the run and gun config.

Will you show this on your website?

We'll have pics and videos from NAB soon.
These are the newest configurations so no time to film before NAB
See you all in the Sony booth if you can make it!!!

I'm starting to think that the Canon lenses are just too darn problematic to use for anything but stills. :-( I've got an MTF adapter for my F55, but held off on the control box so I'm using a vario-ND to control exposure. I haven't seen a solution that just works like it should. My understanding is that even on an C300/500, the aperture control is in 1/3 stops... which is completely unusable if you need to adjust mid-scene. The MTF claims a 1/8 stop adjustment, but I haven't seen that for myself. Thankfully, the F5/55 is a small camera and is still quite small (and hand-holdable) with a massive PL zoom lens on there.

Optitek based on reviews is really great and with their remote u can get fluid iris adjustment , just like on pl glass. the only thing its costly, but i think mtf is not that far away...

Any news on your canon mount? Haven't seen anything reported on it.

The c300 has the option of 1/8 or 1/3 stop increments

We got Sony endorsement now. The NAB was very successful in introducing the high end users to this new concept...

I have one of the Prolock EF mounts but am using it without the Optitron focus units. The Prolock is powered via a D-tap cable. It is very well built and performs well. The unit came with no printed instructions. It has three buttons; one for opening the iris, and one for closing the iris. There is a third button marked INT. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Hi Skip the third button is marked "INIT" which stands for "initialize" like initialize the lens.
The lenses may be hot swapped but if for some reason the lens doesn't calibrate upon mounting you can use this button to initialize the lens so the iris can be controlled (and the IS activated)

Optitek- thanks for the info. That was my suspicion as the lens focus would hiccup when the INIT button is pressed. I'm very happy with the unit and look forward to adding the Optitron when the budget allows!
