Canon lenses and the F3

Hey All,

I'm wondering if anyone has had confirmation that canon lenses are going to work on the F3, or if anyone is working on an electronic mount for them with aperture control, etc.

In time I would suspect there would. There is already an EX3 to EF mount adapter. While it isn't confirmed yet, that adapter may work on the F3 since the EX3 mount looks to be identical to the F3s. If not, MTF will likely modify to fit.

As far as electronically controlling the aperture, the folks at Birger Engineering is currently making an adapter for the micro4/3rds mount. The relatively long FFD means that there is ample space for the necessary electronics to fit in the F3 mount much like the micro4/3rds. I'm sure there would be a market for this when the F3 launches, and folks in this price bracket are more likely to spend the money on an electronically-controlled adapter.

the f3 does have electronics in the mount. both in their pl adapter and on their native f3 mount itself. on the PL for I DATA connection from new cooke lenses and others that may have this technology, and in the native mount for their future s35 automatic zoom lenses. hence the zoom rocker on the camera itself. If there's data connection on the mount, I can almost guarantee birger will figure out a way to make it work :)
