Canon HF G60

Bought this new HF G60 camcorder for run and gun - get it the first time - docu work, and am impressed by the 1" sensor, DPAF, ND filters and bokeh. Normally use my GH5, but I wanted something that focused faster and more accurately than me :) Loving this old school yet new school camcorder but can find very little on the camera in regards to user comments or reviews

Here's some random clips I quickly assembled from some test footage I shot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjxSCOOqpbs

Anyone have experience with this camera?

i stopped the vid at 1:18 and i can read the registration numbers on the boat's bow. that's pretty sharp!

i might be mistaken but i think norbro on this site either had this camera. was testing it, or selling it.

smaller chippers have their place.

as long as that place is outdoors!

thumbs up.

I purchased two myself (separately after I realized how good it was) a couple of months ago for a very specific job in which nothing else could be used (no mirrorless/DSLR or cinema camera) and I loved using it.

I am indeed selling one here in the marketplace so I understand this opinion will be taken with a grain of salt, but FWIW it's an absolutely fantastic camera.

I will keep the one I don't sell forever. (Even as a back-up if it's not used for anything else.)

DPAF, NDs, Canon's WDR color science, zoom rocker, dual-card recording...just a joy to use as an all-in-one package.

P.S. Nice footage!

Yeah, Rob. I too was impressed by the sharpness, but what really impressed me was the lack of noise in low light. I should have shot and posted some low light footage, but I did buy it for outdoor run and gun. And quite frankly, I just wanted that DPAF. I've been exclusively a Panny guy since the original DVX and now my GH5, but I kept waiting for Panasonic to put out a sub $1700.00 camcorder with 4K that had strong auto-focus and acceptable dynamic range and low light - something to use in very select situations - the larger sensor and ND filters were gravy.

IMO, I think it's because most of these fixed-lens cameras were not too good year-after-year, and it finally seems like technology has caught up for them and we've seen some nice releases in the past 12 months or so.

If you haven't tried the WDR setting yet, I highly recommend it!

does anyone know if the two audio channels via the 3.5mm can be set at different separate audio levels?

thanks in advance.

Yes, they can be after you separate the channels in the menu (they are initially linked).

Here's a simple 3.5mm lav setup in which I have CH1 at 40 and CH2 (safety) at 20.
