Hey guys just wondering what the go is with putting old fd lenses or nikon glass on the 5d. i know you can get those adaptors off ebay - which ones are the best? and do you think nikon glass or fd would be a better choice? i dont need auto focus.
I did this recently and purchased the Bower adaptor for Nikon lenses from B&H, despite some criticism in the commentary on the B&H site. I found it to work just fine though it lacks any instructions. Took me a few minutes to figure it out. The only reason I did this is to salvage a 28-105 Nikon lens which was useful and let me carry fewer lenses in my kit. The lens aperture doesn't show in the LCD so you have to pay close attention, but the meter still works fine. No AF of course. I would use the Canon lenses over the Nikon as the aperture not showing up is inconvenient. If your budget is tight and you have Nikon lenses laying around, then its a reasonable solution.
