Canon FD adapter vs. Nikon (not sure) Adapter

Ok all, so I think i'm going to get an adapter for older lenses to save money on lens costs. i had a Canon FD adapter and a couple of FD lenses on my GH1, but that's all gone now. so I see a lot of people using Nikon (what kind of lenses are they? Canon's are FD, what are the nikon's? don't know what to call them) lenses with adapters on their 7d/t2i/5d/etc. is there a real difference or advantage over FD lenses? because the FD lenses seem to be a good bit cheaper. could someone fill me in on why I would want the Nikon (and what they are called) lenses of Canon FDs?

also I am looking at these two Canon FD adapters:

advice/opinions on those?

also, what issues will i have when using these with my T2i? I understand they can do nothing automatic, and i'm cool with that. but is the camera going to do anything funky? i remember seeing a video somewhere where people were having to change their shutter speeds and iso's to get the stop they wanted the camera just wouldn't respond to the aperture? or was that just with the automatic T1i or something?

i just want a fully manual lens that when I set to say 2.8 and ISO to 200 and Shutter to 50, it all JUST WORKS.

SO! please inform me :)

I would avoid any adapter that adds a lens element to be able to focus to infinity. It's just another layer that can soften up your nice sharp Canon FD lenses.
Older Nikon lenses with an aperture ring should all good. I have a full set of Olympus OM Zuiko lenses that are from the same production period as the Nikon glass and also well respected sharpness and quality. I'm waiting for an adapter from Photodiox to start running some tests. If you check Ebay you can get a range of 2.8 OM lenses very cheap.
I agree with 100% manual lenses on these new Canon DSLRs. In the field with constant changing lighting conditions it's much faster to change the aperture right on the lens as apposed to button pushing and menu surfing. Manual focus is also faster and much more reliable shooting live action. I think I saw some of your stills posted a while ago if I'm not mistaken, nice shots Paul.
