Canon EOS 70D Announced

If the AF is indeed accurate and doesn't hunt in most situations as in the sample video, I couldn't care less about headphone jacks and whatnot. I can get a thousand devices with headphone jacks and get audio on them. But I haven't seen a large sensor camera that doesn't hunt while doing AF in video. This is beyond awesome.
Can't wait to see more.

Yea the autofocus on this thing seems pretty amazing. If it works as advertised, I will definitely be picking one up.

Totally agree with the above posts! Currently I use 60D and 600D and use manual focus of course, but if the AF on the 70D works as advertised I can see many situations where it can be a saver!
Next thing I want is a better low light performance than the current APSC models (hoping on par with FF models) and I m all over it!
As for headphone jack...dont care so much...anyway I m planning to buy that: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/868931-REG/juicedLink_RA333_RA333_Riggy_Assist_Low_Noise.html
or that: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/966010-REG/shure_vp83f_condenser_shotgun_mic.html for use with the dslrs...both offering headphone jacks...

The problem with the Juiced Link (& even the Juiced Link guy will say this) is you're monitoring the audio you're sending to the camera. Not the audio the camera is recording. Technically these should be the same thing, but if it isn't you could lose all your audio.

The problem with the sure is that a mic on the camera is good for nat sound, but not much beyond that. In my opinion microphone placement is more important that the microphone itself. I will always take an average mic placed correctly & close to the audio source, than an amazing mic placed far away from the audio source mounted to a camera (or whatever).

Good audio makes my pictures better. Bad audio ruins my pictures. This is why I care so, so, so much about audio.

And for all the dual record crowd, if it works for you, fine. For me I don't want an extra 4 steps added to my workflow before I can start editing. I want my workflow camera to cutting as short as possible.

Yes Im aware of the dangers of monitoring the sound from an external device...it can be a problem...thats why its always good to have a backup audio source...even double!
As for the mic placement...again you re absolutely correct...on camera is propably the worst place to put it...but the problem is, in many situations it is the ONLY place it can be...
and usually that is the case for what I do...
About the dual record system...I really hated it...plural eyes 2 were doing less than half of the job and slowly...but I recently tried plural eyes 3 and...what can I say...that thing does everything correct and it does it fast!!!
Good audio is very important...you re right to care much about it...:)
