Canon EF-S lens adaptor?

Hi Folks,

I just got my AF100 in the middle of January. Woo-hoo. I have some Canon EF lenses and have an adaptor with aperture adjustment, but it will not take EF-S lenses. Is there an adaptor that will take EF-S lenses and has aperture adjustments? I found some cheapies on ebay at around $15, but no aperture ring.

As a follow up, if I I buy the cheapie adaptor with no aperture control, what's the best way to control exposure?

Thanks,

The Redrock LiveLens MFT adapter works fine with both EF and EF-S lenses and has electronic control of the aperture. Downsides are the external battery it requires, and the price (about $600 with the battery box). It was worth it to me since I have about a dozen EF lenses that I can now use on my AF100.

Downside for me if the stupid shipping prices to Australia!! $150+ just to send something that probably weighs less than a 1/2 kg. I have asked them to change that but they have no intention!

I am till waiting for my Redrock adapter to arrive. I have been waiting 4 weeks already. ahhhhh. I really need this as I have wuite a bit of canon glass. Liten are you havin problems with tokina 11-16mm mounting. Also, what would you recommend to shoot with for canon glass to get a real wide field of view(focal lnght). I know m4.3 is cropped 2 times . I want something at 16mm and 28 basiaclly.

MTF makes one as well. Shipping could be better from England?

My bad. I don't think it's available yet.

Millet,

PM me your order number and I'll check on it for you. Also, to get the coveted 16mm on the Micro Four Thirds, take a look at the Canon 8-15mm f/4 (Review Here). It's a little slow, but boy is it wide. Although I haven't seen it on a micro four thirds chip...so I can't comment on distortion as such.

Can't comment on the Tokina because I don't own one. My comparable lens is a Canon EF-S 10-22mm, which works wonderfully with the AF and Redrock.

The only lens from my collection that doesn't seem completely compatible with the Redrock mount is a Sigma 30mm f/1.4. It will go on and the adapter can control the aperture, but it doesn't lock firmly onto the mount. It's easy to twist it off without pushing the release button. All my genuine Canons and my Tamron 200-500mm work fine. But I would definitely test it thoroughly with any third-party lens before using it on a serious shoot.

Redrock MFT works well for me, just don't count on the Tokina 11-16mm as the necessary tolerances are extremely tight for it to focus correctly. I think some of the issue is with the panasonic lens mount on the camera - it's never seemed especially snug with any lens or adapter... Sigma 30mm F1.4 works fine with mine, locks into place and focuses fine. I use the MFT with all my lenses except the 11-16, which I have on a KIWI hard mount adapter I got from National Camera - super tight fitting but no aperture control.

Anyone seen or played with one of these (http://www.fotodiox.com/product_info.php?products_id=821) Fotodiox Pro Lens w/ built in aperture iris.

I am keen on the Redrock. I am just running out of time in regards to postage time, as I saw earlier in this thread that the Redrock was taking in excess of four weeks to deliver to Australia (Loren you able to help here?), as I am about to head to Egypt and will look at getting it sent there. However for now I am looking for something quick and simple to get me through. Not perfect I know but necessary mainly due to my own indecision.

So really it has come down to the Fotodiox Pro or the Fotodiox EOS to micro 4/3.

And thanks for all the previous comments and thoughts.

How and where does one attach an external battery? I'm thinking about getting a Redrock but didn't know it required a battery :(

Hi Daved,

The battery pack (which is only slightly larger then the 9V battery it contains) can be attached to really wherever you want. I've seen customers put it pretty much all over the camera at this point. The top handle seems to be the most popular though.

Daniel took a different approach and mounted it on the side as you can see later into this video
